Vehicle and Traffic Representation

Representing the Capital District and Beyond

Traffic tickets happen and can be an embarrassing and time consuming experience.  A traffic law violation in can be as minor as failing to signal when changing lanes or as serious as reckless endangerment.  In New York, these infractions are considered criminal offenses because they put you and others in danger.

If you were recently cited for a traffic violation in New York such as speeding, it's important that you take legal action as soon as possible. While one traffic infraction may not seem like a big deal, if you're found guilty, you may face fines, points and in some cases, jail time. Additionally, such traffic law violations can increase your insurance rates and multiple traffic violations may result in suspension or loss of your driving privileges.

No matter how careful a driver someone is, they can still get a ticket. Speeding fines start at $150 plus the surcharges. You can be looking at an expensive outcome, for the convenience of pleading guilty to avoid going to court.   Having a lawyer, in many cases, will mean you don't have to appear in court.

Depending on the points your violation carries, you may end up with a "Driver Responsibility Assessment" by the DMV, for three years at $100 per year for the first 6 points and $25 for each additional point.  While 6 points may seem like a lot, a single instance of going 21 miles per hour over the speed limit will do it. Holding your cell phone, even if you aren't using it, can get you 5 points.  Passing an emergency vehicle with the lights flashing on the side of the road will get you 3 points and if you happen to be going just 5 miles over the speed limit at the same time, add another 3 points.  It adds up quickly, as do the fines and the possible assessments.

The Law Office of Lynne A. Papazian represents individuals facing traffic law violations and welcomes the opportunity to speak with you about your charges.  Even though you may think you're dealing with a simple infraction, the reality is that you're being accused of breaking that law. You should do everything you can to protect yourself and the first step is obtaining representation from an experienced traffic law attorney in Albany!

We will act on your behalf to obtain the best possible resolution and be with you every step of the way.
